quarterly, or yearly. Credit card donations are processed on the 15th of the month.

*How can I make a change of address?

You can email us at info@childrenofhope.name or call us toll free at 1-866-855-HOPE (4673) , or mail your new information to:

76 Sandys St., Chatham, ON N7L 4Y5.

*I have lost my records, can you please tell me how much I owe.

In the event that you have lost your account information or child records, simply email us or call us toll free at 1-866-855-HOPE (4673)
We will bring you up to date and send you new child information if necessary.

*I was not able to send money for 3 or 4 months, but I would like to continue sponsoring my child, is it possible? What has
happened to my child during the months I did not send support?

If you are able to make up overdue donations, you can simply mail a cheque for the whole amount or call us at

1-866-855-HOPE (4673) to make a credit card donation. If you need help in bringing your account up to date, please get in touch and we will work out a solution. Your child has not personally suffered because you were unable to send your donations on time. We have continued your child support without interruption by using emergency monies from our reserve fund.

*I would prefer to sponsor a different child than the one I currently support. Is it possible?

Yes we can do a child change for you. We will put your current child on a high priority list to find a new sponsor.

*If I need to cancel, what will happen to my sponsored child?

Should you have to cancel, we will immediately look for a new sponsor for your child. We understand that people’s circumstances sometimes change. If this happens to you, please notify us as soon as possible, so we can find a new sponsor and continue the child’s support without interruption.

CHILDREN OF HOPE, CHILDREN

*Can I adopt an orphan through your organization?

No. Children of Hope is a ministry focusing on church-based child evangelism and discipleship. We are not licensed to facilitate adoption.

*Can you explain why my child is well dressed in the photograph I’ve received? Are these children really living in poverty?

In most countries where we work, photographs are a special event. Each child wants to look their best. Many children will wear their best clothing or may even borrow nice clothes for the occasion.

*Do the children in the sponsorship program have to be Christians?

No. Children can participate in Children of Hope regardless of their faith. Every Children of Hope child is connected to a Christian church or ministry. Every child hears the gospel, and has an opportunity to be discipled in the ways of Christ.  But neither the children nor their families are under any obligation to become Christians.

*Who are the children in the photographs you use in your promotional materials?

All visual or photographic materials we use depict real children who live in Indonesia

SENDING GIFTS TO YOUR SPONSORED CHILD

*What type of gifts or items can I send to my child, and why are there restrictions on the type of gift I send?

With your letters, you can enclose small paper items such as postcards greeting cards, bookmarks, stickers, photos. Paper items easily go through customs and do not face restrictions. We simply cannot take responsibility for goods which may end up damaged or stolen, which happens because parcel delivery in developing countries is unreliable and expensive. Sending a monetary gift makes more sense. We save on shipping charges and your sponsored child gets 100 per cent of the sum you donate to buy an appropriate gift locally.

*What type of gifts can I send my Children of Hope child?

Stickers, family photos, bookmarks, anything that is lightweight and can be sent in a envelope.

SPONSORSHIP

*Does my sponsorship create jealousy for my child’s siblings? How does my sponsorship help my child’s family?

Parents and local pastors play a key role in deciding which child or children will join our program. Because they have good reasons to back up their decision, jealousy generally does not arise. Having a child enrolled in our grogram frees up the parents’ resources and helps them to care better for the rest of their family. Moreover, many of our sponsored children go home and share the blessings they’ve received. They teach their families what they have learned, and make their siblings
feel included.

*How is a child selected for sponsorship?
Children of Hope relies on the recommendations of local workers. There is a selection process in place to make sure the child qualifies. After a child is chosen local workers continue to monitor the need and progress of each child.

*How long will my sponsorship last?

Children of Hope wants to provide for the child until they graduate from high school which is generally between 18 – 20 years of age. However, there are situations when children move away, or their conditions improve so dramatically they no longer need sponsorship. In the event your child no longer qualifies for sponsorship, we will notify you immediately. Should you
ever have to discontinue your sponsorship, your sponsored child will receive support through our Reserve Fund, until we are able to find a new sponsor.

*How much of my monthly sponsorship gift goes to my child?

Because Children of Hope is a volunteer based organization we are able to allocate maximum funds to your sponsored child. We always apply 95% or more of your donations directly to your sponsored child.

*What is the money I send used for?

Your gift helps provide food, clothing, school uniforms, and school tuition and a regular program where children learn about
God’s love.

*If I must discontinue my sponsorship, what happens to my child?

We recognize that people’s circumstances sometimes change. If this happens, please notify us as soon as possible so we can find a new sponsor and continue the child’s support without interruption.

CAN I VISIT AND WRITE MY SPONSORED CHILD

*Can I visit my sponsored child?

For the past several years Loads of Love together with Evangel Community Church in Chatham, Ontario has taken a task force team to Indonesia every year and plan on continuing doing so. You would be welcomed to join a team. A task force team works to provide medical care, dig wells and water filters, builds churches, and other construction projects, and does children’s’ programs. During a task force trip we would conduct a rally where the children can come and you would be able to meet your child. If you are interested in such a trip please contact us and we will forward any information about the trip to you.

*Can my sponsored child visit me?

Bringing children to North America even for short visit may upset their balance and compromise their growth in their country.  Moreover, we need to adhere to child protection policies, which do not allow such visits.

*Who translate my letters to my child?

We have volunteers who live in Indonesia who translate your letters. This helps them with their English skill, and is a definite benefit for us.

*I find it difficult to write letters to my child. What should I write about?

You can write about your family, your pets and hobbies, special events or holidays or your church involvement. Describe the world in which you live. Give them words of encouragement and tell them you pray for them. Ask them about themselves. What their family is like, what they do for fun, what do they eat. Whatever you say they will be excited to receive. Even a nice postcard would be a special thing to them that they would cherish for a long time.
